Present Imperfect

Life indeed has a way of progressively molding our perspectives and insights about family, friends alongside all the other experiences with the many people we meet each day. 

Time passes by so quickly, albeit significantly I must emphasize. Recounting all the years I've had after relocating from Manila to Davao City  early 1991. 

The different lifestyle I had with the friends I made at work while in various assignments at the JVAyala Group of Companies. Aside from the people at my work stations, there were other personalities I became close to during times of recreation shared with my Davao family. 

Then there's my world of music, meeting talented artists who eventually became very good friends too.

I decided to move here because Davao city is the main trade, commercial and industrial center of Mindanao since the city is actually the regional center of the Davao Region. This agricultural paradise is also home to Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, seen from  most parts of Davao City. The city is also nicknamed the "Durian Capital of the Philippines".

Although I started exclusively as a personal interior designer, my 'official' job with their companies actually began at Matina Town Square, one of my several areas of responsibility as the company's Property and Maintenance Officer. Popularly known in the city as 'MTS', it is a shopping center-cum-entertainment establishment with rows of stores that offer goods and services. Also known as a dining and entertainment destination, there's the 'Strip' featuring various stalls that offer merchandise and 

services then there's Taboan with nightly entertainment by live band performances. 

All can party the night away at "Taboan" and dine among a variety of food stalls with Chinese/Asian dishes, Filipino fare, Grilled specialties or other gastronomic delights. 

Through the years, MTS has evolved into a tourist destination and is a favored hangout among the locals for good food, great entertainment and much more!

My professional responsibilities eventually branched out to developing real estate properties, both residential and commercial. I've learned to love my job so much so that it became my lifestyle. Managing and Supervising the daily upkeep of numerous facilities made my days go by so quickly. From the private residential compound to main office complex, the residential rental apartments to the commercial strip mall. 

I presently find it hard to believe that I've lived in this metropolis for 21 years! I can then honestly confess that the person I am today isn't exactly who I dreamed I would be like when I was in high school then years ago. 

Then again, who can really say what the future holds for each and every one of us? 

I for one, feel a renewed sense of joy in  my life. No to smoking cigarettes, no to alcohol. It's not at all how things turns out after suffering a serious illness and being hospitalized. A renewed belief in God and an affirmation of faith in life filled with love and goodness. 

I promise myself I would never again take anything or anyone for granted.
