High in Hawaii

I dreamt about Hawaii last night. I was then sitting outside my brother's apartment in Ewa Beach having light conversation with him and my older sister M. My brother and his wife preferred residing at Ewa Beach since the place is a great residential area with good schools and great public transportation accessibility, aside from being an ideal location if you're looking for work with numerous employment options.

My sister M, I and my brother B were talking about our fun day at Hanauma Bay and how we loved & enjoyed relaxing at the beach after feeding the fish.

Hanauma Bay is a popular tourist attraction on the island of Oahu. It was proclaimed a natural reserve, famous for its colorful coral reefs and rich marine life. The beach and natural park nearby got their name from two Hawaiian words: “hana” meaning bay and “uma” which means curved.

We spent another day at a friend's townhouse in Kailua, a town on the east coast of Oahu. There are really nice long stretches of sand on Kailua Bay. There's Kailua Beach Park, a water sports hub, and Kalama Beach Park. Since it was relatively close to home, we enjoyed more time at quiet Lanikai Beach overlooking the Mokulua Islands. Time spent here was very relaxing since there aren't too many beach-goers around.

For a unique shopping experience, my brother took us to Ala Moana shopping center. Ala Moana actually means “path to the sea,” which is a perfect name because the place is very near the sea (as with many other interesting tourist sites in Hawaii). It's connection to the ocean is seen throughout the complex with native art displays, cool koi ponds, and refreshing fountains.

I distinctly remember buying a chili dog sandwich from one of the stalls at the courtyard, it was really good!

A visit to Hawaii isn't complete without attending a luau, a festive experience with a Hawaiian feast as you dine under the stars with lively music and vibrant cultural performances from both Hawaii and the Polynesian islands. I particularly enjoyed the exciting fire dance and delightfully entertained by the upbeat hula dancing.
