Ingredients of Life
It has taken some time to keep up with the daily tasks and activities around me.
Let's just say it's merely a part of the things I take for granted, that of just simply being unaware that things needing my attention may just be at the tip of my fingertips. Strange how this leads me to what i really want to talk about: things I take for granted, the basic "ingredients of my life".
For one, there's the shocking news about the sudden death of Michael Jackson that made the world's headlines which somehow affects me. Thinking about it, 'MJ' has somehow been a subconscious part of my life ever since I can remember. One of his hits "Got to Be There" shall forever be an all-time favorite tune. The song brings back memories of the past, happy times spent with a special childhood friend in Sangley point in the city of Cavite, where Papa was assigned by the Air Force. Such wonderful memories that never fail to put a smile on my face, especially whenever I hear that particular song playing on the radio. Soon after, there was another song MJ did which became his next hit "One Day in Your Life". The tune was a ballad with meaningful lyrics that are so intense, it brings me back to days when 'puppy love' seemed to be the only thing that mattered, so much so that it figuratively made the world go round. my world anyway.
Then there's 'True' by Spandau Ballet, a ballad that brings back memories of the 1980s.

Hello po... I was searching for Carol Querubin, when your blog popped up. I read your blog and found out that you were closed to her and her family... I had her and Gina as my God parents... and have been wanting so bad to know how they're doing... I got a hold on my Ninang Gina, but not Carol. Do you by any chance, have any information about her... I would really appreciate it... my email address is cfdingle@yahoo.com. And my name is Carol Loreno Dingle. Maybe you knew my uncle too, his name is Capt. Alfredo Casiano.
ReplyDeletehello Carol. My apologies for this late reply. Carol lives in the US and is in my friends list at Facebook. Please feel free to go to timeline and find her in my list. God bless 😁
DeleteReading your blog about Sangley, I can't help but reminisce about the good old days there. I stayed in Sangley for some 3 years (1974-77) and made a lot of friends there too, including those you mentioned - the Querubins, Tabernillas, Lebumfacils, Reambillos. And the Baldonados too.
ReplyDeleteOf course there were our friends from the Navy section too - the Dones siblings and the de la Penas.
Those were some of the best years of my life. I lived on Glaze St., a few doors from the Reambillos and a stone's throw from the pelota court.
I wish I could get in touch with friends from Sangley again.
hello "Groovin",
DeleteIt's really great hearing about this, thanks for visiting my blog. May I know your name please? I too have fond memories of Sangley Point when my father was assigned there sometime early 70s since he was with the Air Force. Summers and long schoolbreaks would be opportunities to go visit my dad and stay at our quarters, originally one of the aprtments and later a military type structure called a quanset. My brother and I used to do a lot of fishing at the breakwater beside the runway. Swimming in the base pool and pelota also took up most of our time there I do have some pics of the 'old Sangley' and will post them for you. As for some of the common friends you mentioned, a few are my friends on Facebook. Carol & Edward Querubin, who are both living in the states. Carol is married to Ray Ansay, who I met then when he was assigned in Sangley and became her boyfriend. You can look at my friends list and find him there. Gina Lebumfacil is also on my list. If you like, you can also join my friends list at FB. Hope to hear more from you and take care :)
